Statement
I am captivated by subtlety and simplicity. My work focuses on developing humble forms derived from my environment that evoke plant, animal, and human qualities. As an artist, everything around me can be inspiration and raw material, and everything in front of me is relevant.
Through this body of work, In Plain Sight, I explore how mindfulness and simply being present, noticing and accepting what is in front of me, is rich with inspiration to create visual work. This is essentially the key to having internal peace and freedom in my life. I have always seen magic in jagged ordinary moments, where the world shows its brokenness and beautiful shadow. Discarded items and ordinary moments are inspiring to me. I love when the mundane daily things I see and tasks I complete inform my work.
My ideas are simple, my interests lie in my desire to remind people of what it means to be human and to be present in their lives. Oftentimes, we take our surroundings for granted and I hope the viewer will take a moment to appreciate and experience common things in a new way. Through this direct approach of exploring and making, I am not seeking to answer the question: “what is art?” but rather, “who am I, and how do I fit here?”

Then we will process the payment through Venmo or Zelle and the piece will ship to you the first week of November after the show closes
